Get to know The Moon

White rice balls float in the bowl, their rounded surfaces catching the light. A gentle bite reveals dark sesame filling, warm and sweet with toasted fragrance. Light and darkness share the bowl, like a night that shows some things and keeps others hidden.

In Lantern Festival food traditions, tang yuan carry wishes for reunion and thoughts of loved ones far away. One person tastes the joy of gathering; another remembers someone absent. The food has a definite flavor, while the feelings it awakens may have many layers.

In the traditional Moon card, a path leads from the water between two towers and onward into the distance. A dog and a wolf look up while a small creature emerges from the water. Moonlight reveals outlines without showing the whole road; familiar things can seem strange.

Black sesame tang yuan holds that mingling of light and dark. When you miss someone, a message left unanswered can invite many explanations. Those worries deserve to be heard, while what has actually happened still needs real information.

If the Moon is your card today, finish this bowl and gently sort through what is on your mind. What has happened, what are you afraid of, and what needs asking? Your questions can remain unanswered tonight. Choose your direction when the light is a little clearer.
