Vegetable Lasagna
Build a little order, one layer at a time
Sauce goes into the baking dish, then pasta, vegetables and cheese. Layer follows layer until the top bakes golden. After a short rest, a slice reveals red sauce, green spinach and soft sheets of pasta in place. Separate ingredients have become a whole.
Italy has many regional versions of lasagna. The traditional Bolognese version alternates green pasta with ragù, béchamel and cheese; its recipe was also registered with the local chamber of commerce by the Italian Academy of Cuisine. Our version uses vegetables and tomato sauce, keeping the structure of layers baked together.
The traditional Emperor sits firmly on a stone throne, ram heads at its arms and mountains behind him. There is weight to the image: someone needs to make arrangements and take responsibility for decisions. Clear rules and a steady foundation help people see where to go next.
Lasagna makes that order something you can taste. With the vegetables cooked and sauce ready, assembling feels calmer. Pasta gives support, sauce brings moisture, and each part helps the dish hold together. Fillings can change with your taste; the purpose of the arrangement is to make the meal work.
When things pile up, borrow a little of the Emperor's approach. What needs preparing first, what can wait, and where could someone help? Make the order and responsibilities clear, then attend to the next task. A busy day may feel a little steadier.
